Mafikizolo join Ty Dolla $ign and KWN at the top of WAV Festival's Cape Town bill

Mafikizolo will co-headline the Cape Town leg of WAV Festival in January with Ty Dolla $ign and KWN, in a line-up update that adds new names to both dates.

The R&B festival returns to Green Point Track in Cape Town on Saturday, 2 January 2027, and makes its Pretoria debut at SunBet Arena the next day. Ty Dolla $ign and KWN were announced as the headliners for both cities earlier this month.

Who has been added

In Cape Town, Mafikizolo are joined by Lordkez, Lusanda, Thando Zide and Xowie. TxC and Juls play special guest DJ sets, with DJ Loyd and Sir Vincent on the decks as well.

In Pretoria, Lordkez, Lusanda and Xowie join the two headliners. More artists are still to be announced for both cities.

The update was published on 22 and 23 October by FabFestivals and HYPE Magazine. HYPE named Africa Creative Agency as the company behind the festival.

Mafikizolo's place on the bill

Mafikizolo, Theo Kgosinkwe and Nhlanhla, have been recording since the late 1990s. When Nhlanhla took time for solo work in 2024, Kgosinkwe told the Daily Dispatch the group remained intact.

Tickets

Cape Town tickets are sold through Howler. The Green Point date runs from noon to 11pm and is for over-18s only. Pretoria tickets are on Webtickets. HYPE and Briefly reported a four-for-three deal, where a group buys four tickets and pays for three.

WAV launched at Green Point Track on 2 January this year, with Mariah the Scientist as headliner.
